DoorDash states it has removed a driver who appeared to have used artificial intelligence to fabricate a delivery
DoorDash Responds to Viral AI Delivery Photo Incident
DoorDash has addressed a widely shared incident involving a driver who allegedly used an AI-created image to falsely claim a delivery was completed.
According to a report from Nexstar, Austin local Byrne Hobart recounted his experience on social media. In his post on X, Hobart described how a DoorDash driver accepted his order, instantly marked it as delivered, and uploaded an AI-generated photo supposedly showing the food at his doorstep.
As Hobart’s story gained traction online, he shared additional context, admitting that such a scenario could be easily fabricated. However, he pointed out that another user reported a nearly identical experience in Austin, involving a driver with the same display name.

Hobart speculated that the driver may have exploited a compromised account on a modified phone, possibly accessing a photo of his front door through a DoorDash feature that displays images from previous deliveries.
In response, a DoorDash representative informed TechCrunch, “Following a swift review of the situation, we permanently deactivated the Dasher’s account and made sure the customer was fully compensated. We maintain a strict anti-fraud policy and rely on both advanced technology and manual oversight to prevent misuse of our platform.”
