Crypto Wallet Security Alert: SlowMist CISO Urges Users to Disconnect, Export Mnemonic, and Transfer Assets Before Wallet Upgrade
Industry security firm SlowMist has issued a security advisory following reports of a compromised wallet version. In a social post, the Chief Information Security Officer stresses that users of such wallets should immediately disconnect from the internet and export the mnemonic phrase to facilitate asset transfer. The guidance emphasizes that online usage could heighten exposure to further breaches.
Once the offline workflow is initiated, users should complete the offline transfer of assets before re-establishing connectivity. Maintaining the wallet in an offline state during the transition minimizes risk and helps preserve integrity until a secure reconfiguration is completed.
For wallets with a backed-up mnemonic phrase, the CISO recommends moving all assets to a new, secure wallet prior to any wallet upgrade. After a successful transfer, the upgrade can proceed with a significantly reduced risk surface.
