Standard Chartered and Ant International Launch US Dollar Tokenized Deposits Under HKMA Project Ensemble
Standard Chartered Bank has deployed a blockchain-based tokenized deposits service for Ant International, enabling real-time transfers in HKD, offshore CNY, and USD. The initiative, executed with Ant International, supports Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s Project Ensemble to advance distributed ledger technology in the region. Ant International becomes the first client to run the new rails on Ant’s Whale platform, expanding tokenization within cross-border treasury flows and real-time liquidity management.
Under EnsembleTX, the arrangement aligns with governance and interoperability efforts to standardize tokenization across wholesale banking. Since joining in May 2024, Standard Chartered has contributed to industry benchmarks and scalable settlement scenarios, reinforcing the ecosystem’s readiness for regulated tokenized deposits and multi-currency liquidity transfers across Hong Kong and beyond.
