PANews, January 9 – According to CCTV, European Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier stated on January 8 that the European Commission has ordered the US social media platform X to retain all internal documents and data related to its built-in chatbot "Grok" until the end of 2026. "Grok" was developed by the US entrepreneur Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI and is integrated into Musk's social media platform X. Recently, some users on the X platform have used "Grok" to edit images and videos, with some generating fake explicit content of real individuals and spreading it on the X platform. Victims include hundreds of adult women and minors. Regnier said the European Commission "takes this issue seriously" and has decided to extend the "data retention" requirement issued to the X platform in 2025. This requirement previously mainly involved information related to the platform's algorithms and the dissemination and spread of illegal content. On January 4, the X platform responded to the controversy by stating that it would take action against illegal content on the platform, including deleting related content, permanently banning accounts, and cooperating with local governments and law enforcement agencies when necessary.
