Elon Musk's Neuralink Joins Bionic Eye Research
According to a report by Jinse Finance, Elon Musk’s brain-computer interface company Neuralink is collaborating with researchers in California and Spain to conduct a clinical trial on visual prosthetics. News of Neuralink’s participation in this trial was disclosed in late July on ClinicalTrials, a government website listing medical studies. The research is sponsored by the University of California, Santa Barbara. According to the online description, the goal of this study is to “address fundamental issues necessary for developing intelligent bionic eyes.” Researchers state that this device will utilize artificial intelligence and could help blind individuals recognize faces, navigate outdoors, read, and more.
