United States CFTC Seeks Comments on Perpetual Contracts
The United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today jointly issued a "Request for Comments on Perpetual Contracts" through its Market Oversight, Clearing and Risk, and Market Participants Divisions. The aim is to comprehensively evaluate the potential applications, benefits, and risks of perpetual contracts within its regulatory framework. Acting CFTC Chairman Caroline D. Pham stated: "Recent interest from exchanges and market participants in perpetual contracts underscores the need for the CFTC to return to its regulatory roots through this solicitation of comments."
