Spanish law enforcement freezes $26.4 million in crypto linked to pan-European money laundering operation with Tron, Tether and TRM Labs collaboration
Spanish law enforcement, in partnership with Tron, Tether, and TRM Labs, has frozen $26.4 million in cryptocurrencies related to a pan-European money laundering operation. The investigation utilized police surveillance and Know Your Customer data from service providers to identify the crime organization's crypto wallets. This marks the T3 Unit's largest coordinated freeze to date, adding to the $126 million recorded in its debut year. Tron's security measures have reportedly reduced illicit volumes on its blockchain by $6 billion, but it remains the top blockchain for illicit transactions, while Tether's USDT is the most-used asset for criminal activities.
