A first edition Charizard Pokémon card, issued in 1999, is set to be tokenized and auctioned on Polygon

Polygon revealed on the X platform that a mint condition first edition holographic Charizard Pokémon card, released in 1999, will be tokenized through the Ethereum extension network Polygon and auctioned by the collectibles platform Courtyard. It is reported that this card will be securely stored in Brink's vault and is currently estimated to be worth up to $250,000.

Marc Boiron added that this auction is not just about the Charizard card but also demonstrates how blockchain can completely change the world of collectibles. A representative from Polygon Labs disclosed they purchased this card from a well-known seller. According to market data since 2020, similar first edition Charizard Pokémon cards have sold for approximately between $264,000 and $400,000.
