Bitcoin Core Discloses Previous Bitcoin Cybersecurity Vulnerability Affecting Versions Prior to v24.0.1
The Bitcoin Core project disclosed a Bitcoin network security vulnerability of memory DoS leaks due to spam headers and stated that the severity of the issue is high, and that prior to Bitcoin Core v24.0.1, an attacker could send spam to a node using a low-difficulty header chain used to remotely cause a peer node to crash.Bitcoin Core has been implemented to protect against Bitcoin Core has implemented protection against this DoS, i.e., nodes will first verify that the presented chain has enough work before committing to store it. This eliminates Bitcoin Core's reliance on checkpoints to protect against any known attacks.
