U.S. SEC Commissioner calls for the creation of a dedicated S-1 registration form for digital asset securities
At the South Korea Blockchain Week 2024 event, SEC Commissioner Mark T Uyeda stated that the SEC needs to create a dedicated S-1 registration form for digital asset securities. Uyeda pointed out that the SEC has flexibility in customizing registration requirements for specific financial products, and this practice should be extended to cryptocurrencies and digital asset securities. He emphasized that the SEC should not create a "dilemma" by requiring issuers of digital asset securities to provide irrelevant or unobtainable disclosure information. Uyeda also said that the SEC should clarify which digital assets fall under the category of securities, and consider practices from other global jurisdictions in future rule-making. Despite this, current regulatory agenda of SEC Chairman Gary Gensler does not include digital assets.(The Block)
