ZetaChain 2.0 proposes a series of potential upgrades to enable the first universal EVM for chain abstraction

PANews reported on May 15th that ZetaChain, a Layer 1 blockchain operator focused on interoperability, introduced ZetaChain 2.0, the first universal EVM for chain abstraction, in its official blog. These upgrades are proposed and developed by the decentralized ZetaChain community, focusing on the Chain Abstraction Framework (CAF). Their goal is to unlock new potential use cases, such as universal proof-of-stake and universal applications that can manage complex interactions, applications and assets on external chains on behalf of users. The ZetaChain user community is actively developing these proposed upgrades in the public node repository. The upgrade will only be approved by the community through an on-chain governance vote.

ZetaChain 2.0 is a series of proposed upgrades that extend the following current capabilities of the universal EVM stack: 1. Messaging and asset management become composable, supporting abstract processing of complex multi-step transactions and simplifying user operations. 2. Universal applications can combine user assets across multiple chains. Users only need to interact with one application on ZetaChain to enjoy application services on multiple chains. 3. Universal Proof of Stake allows users to mortgage native assets (such as BTC, ETH, BNB) into ZetaChain’s PoS, earn rewards, and enhance network security. 4. Added Bitcoin compatibility, IBC (Inter-Chain Communication Protocol) and additional chain integrations, enabling more users and wallets to access universal applications on ZetaChain.
