Eigenlayer draws criticism from users for non-transferable tokens and strict geographic restrictions
Eigenlayer announced an airdrop of tokens, which caused anger among users due to the non-transferable tokens and strict geographical limitations, as users believe the allocated amount is very small. Although there was expected to be over $15.7 billion in Ethereum staked, participants criticized this linear distribution model as biased towards larger participants, and strict geographical restrictions will exclude users from 30 countries including the United States, Canada, China, and Russia.
However, some industry insiders such as Henrik Andersson from Apollo Capital believe that this backlash is unreasonable, praising Eigenlayer's generous 15% total allocation to users and stating that the distribution model is fair and effective, able to resist counterfeit attacks.
