Japanese e-commerce platform Mercari will begin accepting Bitcoin payments in June this year
One of Japan's e-commerce platforms, Mercari, announced that it will start accepting Bitcoin (BTC) payments from June this year. Mercari will process Bitcoin payments through its Tokyo-based cryptocurrency subsidiary, Melcoin, which will convert all BTC payments into Japanese yen. This means that although buyers can choose BTC payment, sellers will receive legal currency.
