Crypto industry groups urge UK government to include blockchain in UK-US tech bridge
Foresight News reported that cryptocurrency industry groups are urging the UK government to include blockchain in the bilateral UK-US Tech Bridge initiative ahead of Trump’s visit. The letter points out that distributed ledger technology (DLT) is transforming financial services by improving capital flows, enabling faster and cheaper payments, increasing efficiency, and expanding inclusivity, thereby benefiting domestic economic growth and employment. They stated that excluding digital assets would be a "missed opportunity" that could put the UK at a disadvantage.
The UK-US Tech Bridge is a bilateral initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation in advanced technology fields, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, space, quantum and biotechnology, as well as digital finance. Trump’s visit to the UK will take place from September 17 to 19, following an invitation from King Charles, which was conveyed by UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at the White House trade meeting in February this year.
