WSJ: Telegram Ignored Law Enforcement Subpoenas for Years, Macron Considered Granting Pavel Durov French Citizenship
On Aug. 28, according to a person close to Pavel Durov, the company had for years ignored subpoenas and court orders issued by law enforcement, which had piled up in a seldom-viewed company email address.
In addition, at a 2018 luncheon, Macron had invited Pavel Durov to move Telegram to Paris, according to people familiar with the matter. But Durov declined at the time, and Macron even discussed granting Pavel Durov French citizenship.
