Trust Wallet: Confirms 2,596 wallet addresses have been affected, new updates to be announced within the next day
PANews, December 29 – Trust Wallet CEO Eowync.eth posted the latest update on the browser extension v2.68 security incident on X, stating that the team has confirmed a total of 2,596 wallet addresses have been affected. So far, around 5,000 compensation claims have been received, many of which are duplicate or invalid submissions attempting to fraudulently claim victim compensation. Accurately verifying wallet ownership is currently the core focus, and the team is using multiple data cross-verification methods to distinguish genuine victims from malicious submitters. The verification process is proceeding in parallel with forensic investigations. Some cases have already reached relatively clear conclusions, but the overall process is still ongoing. The team will prioritize accuracy over speed and will announce further updates as soon as possible, ensuring funds are safely returned to the correct users. An update is expected within the next day.
