Vitalik: Bitcoin mining hash rate surpasses the 2^96 milestone, supporting the 128-bit security standard
Foresight News reported that Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated in a post that, according to rough calculations based on average difficulty statistics, Bitcoin mining has recently just crossed the milestone of a total of 2^96 hashes. Vitalik believes this provides ample reason to adhere to (close to) the 128-bit security standard, and noted that Drake's previous viewpoint was correct. This data reflects the continuous growth of Bitcoin network hash power and the ongoing improvement of its security.
