Google Meet has introduced an AI-driven makeup filter, perfect for those times when you’d rather skip putting on actual makeup before joining a call. This addition allows Google Meet to better compete with other video meeting platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom, which already offer similar virtual makeup tools.
Users can select from a dozen makeup styles within the “Appearance” menu, specifically under “Portrait touch-up.” This section, available since 2023, also includes features such as skin smoothing, brightening under the eyes, and whitening the eyes.

Importantly, Google notes that the digital makeup remains fixed on your face, regardless of your movements on camera, making it appear more natural. For example, if you drink from a cup, the filter stays on your face rather than moving onto the cup.
By default, this function is turned off, but users can enable it either before joining or during a call. Once you pick a makeup look, Google Meet will save your preferences for your next meetings.
This AI-powered option started becoming available on both mobile and web platforms as of October 8.
